I've been itching to make my own doll for a while now... and I've finally done it! I joined an online class called Cloth and Clay Dolls (http://clothclaydolls.ning.com) and followed the video classes. Here's what I came up with!
She has a cloth body and her head and torso are covered (and sculpted) with clay. I gave her a head of mohair, and did a lot of painting all over her.
She's a bit rough - I need to work on my sewing skills - but I'm pleased with the way she came out. I hope to make more of these!

New Doll - first in almost five months!
I can't believe it's been this long.... but I just finished a doll that I have had sitting on my shelf for many months. She's a special project for someone that asked me to paint her a very long time ago -- a little redheaded hippie girl with a wonderful outfit custom made by Sharon Clancy. She's got two wig possibilities: one commercially made long red hair and the other made of curly lambswool.
Here's what she looked like before her makeover:
Hope to have more dolls available soon!
