Art Dolls

As I delve into the world of making my own dolls, I've been looking at lots of other handmade dolls. Art Dolls Only issued a challenge to make a doll based on the elements. I hope my latest doll will fit right in! Images will be posted on Friday, but I'll post a preview image now as a teaser. (More preview available on my Allegro Melody FaceBook page!)

This is Redwing, a doll made from airdry clay and cloth, painted with acrylics. More images to come on Friday.

Your dolls are beautiful. How are they made?

Thanks! Until recently, I've been customizing already manufactured Sasha dolls by repainting their features, rewigging them, redressing them etc. Sashas are 16 inch vinyl dolls which are no longer manufactured.

Now I'm delving into making my own dolls - which are quite a bit different from the Sashas. The first doll I made was posted in April on this blog. I just uploaded an image of my latest doll, with more images to be added soon! I'm still experimenting with various techniques and materials.
